Here is the sketch I did for the big guitar. It captures, and highlights, the main points of the neighborhood. Alice Robertson, the first female congresswoman from Oklahoma, the second in the country, had a house near the college she helped start. Her girls school, later combined under the Presbyterian and Creek, became Henry Kendall College. HKC sat in the middle of what is now Kendall Place Historic District. The main school building is represented along with two houses that were around at the time of the college.
Interesting fact… in 1907 the board of regents voted to move HKC to this new city, Tulsa. After a decade in its new location, the college was renamed…the University of Tulsa. The school of law still reflects the original name.
